In April of 2006, we took a trip to Peru that truly inspired us. My husband Mark, who's an excellent photographer, took well over 400 pictures during our two-week vacation. Because this was one of the best trips we’ve ever taken together, we wanted to personalize it in a special way for a lasting memory.
A friend of ours had previously helped us put together a DVD slide show. From the positive feedback we received from that experience we knew this was the way we wanted to share our trip with friends and family. With some patience, we culled through our Peru pictures – selecting about 350 of them! We also had a CD of Peruvian music and added a few songs to give the slideshow an authentic feeling.
Next, we invited our friends to a Peru party and debuted our DVD. It was a hit. Everyone was inspired to travel! Actually, one person said, "Now I don’t have to go there because I feel like I already have." For family members, we made the rounds and showed the DVD. For our friends, family and fellow adventure tour participants who lived out-of-town, they received copies via mail.
A few weeks after our party, I turned to Mark and said to him, "I think we should offer this service to other people." He said, "I was thinking the same thing!" And, that’s how Hocus Focus Pictures got started.
